Most of these hacks have been tried on windows 98 they may work with other versions.
Now First of all PLEASE BACKUP your registry before doing anything else, By going to registry->export registry file. Give the file a suitable name, do not forget to select the export range as all.

       Quick view for all files in context menu  :--  Quick view is an useful tool, that is used to see the contents of a file with out starting the required application, but for some files are this tool is not available. To add quick view to context menu for all files. Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ *\. Under this key, add a new key named QuickView. Set the value of the Default value to * . Now you should be able to access quick view option for all file types.

       Cascading control panel menu in the start menu  :--  To have a cascading control panel in the start menu. Right click the Start button, and select the Open command from the context menu. The Start Menu folder window opens. Create a new folder in the Start Menu window, and name it
Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}

Enter this line very carefully, as it defines the CLSID code of the Control Panel ActiveX component. When you click outside the name box, the shell detects the new setting, Win98 changes the folder symbol to the Control Panel icon, and the title is set to Control Panel. If for some reason the cheat does not work just reenter the folder name again, I repeat the name has to be exactly like give above. Close the Start Menu Window
Control Panel is now available directly from the Start Menu. When you click this option, you will get a cascading menu. This menu allows direct access to each entry in the Control Panel. This not really a registry hack but really useful so I have added it here.

       Recover windows serial number  :--  Microsoft prints the Product key on the box. But in case you have by mistake lost it , you won't be able to install the windows again as it will ask for the CD key during installation. You can find the windows CD key in the following entries in the registry.

- MS Windows 95/98:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ ProductID

- MS Windows NT:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ WindowsNT\ CurrentVersion\ ProductID

take down the CD key and keep it in a safe place.
