Trim Add/Remove Program List
:-- Sometime even after you remove a
program, its name remains in the Add/Remove program list. To remove the
entry go to the following place in registry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ Software\ Microsoft\ Windows\ Current Version\
Uninstall.
you will find a listing of all the software that are listed in Add/Remove
Program list select the unwanted item and delete it.
Remove entries in Run Command List
:-- The run command has a list of
applications and commands that you have recently used, if you don't want
others to access the items in the list go to the following entry in the
registry :-
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Software\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Explorer\
RunMRU.
Choose the item name from the list and clear it
Disable Cancel button in log on dialog box
:-- The users sometime do not put in their
password or best still just click on the cancel button, when the Log On
dialog box asks for password. You can disable this cancel button by going
to the following entry in the registry.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ Network\ Logon.
Add a DWORD value named MustBeValidated. And give it value as 1.
Lock Desktop Icons :--
Arrange the desktop icons as you want on the desktop and then go to the
following entry in the registry.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Software\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Policies\
Explorer. Right-click in the right pane and select New, DWORD value and
name it as NoSaveSettings. Right-click on the new key NoSaveSettings and
select Modify. Enter 1 in the Value data box. Now whenever you restart
Windows, your settings will return to their current state.
Stop A Program From Starting Automatically :--
To stop a program from starting automatically just got to Start ---> Run
and type msconfig <enter>. Click on the Startup tab in the dialog box, And
go to through the list until you find the program you don't want to load
at startup. Uncheck the box next to the Program. Now the program will not
start.
You can also go to the following registry keys and
delete the key which is pointing towards the offending program. The entry
of the program will be removed from start up list in msconfig.

2. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Software\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Run
3. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ Software\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\
RunServices
Change The Registered Name and the Company
:--
To change the registered name and the company open the registry editor and
go to the following key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion
Select the CurrentVersion key, and you'll see RegisteredOrganization and
RegisteredOwner
string values in the right pane.
To change these values, right-click it and select Modify. Type the new
name and company name
on the Value data line and then click OK.
Remove Entry From The New Menu
:-- When you right-click on the
desktop and select New, a list of default templates you can open up are
listed.
To remove items from this list:
1.Search for the string ShellNew in the registry.
2.You will find listing of all the items that appear in the menu in their
own shellnew keys. Rename the ShellNew commands for the items you don't
want in the list. (rename is safer then deleting)
3.Continue searching for the items you want to remove.
